Community House: a renovated space, a strengthened vision
By Eddy Niyonkuru (LCRC)
Renovations to the Lowertown Community House at 145 Beausoleil Drive are progressing. This place, which is so important to residents, will soon be even more welcoming, accessible, and adapted to their needs.
On the ground floor, fresh coats of paint add warmth and conviviality, and new flooring gives the whole space a fresh and modern look. In the basement, the ceiling has been redone.

And best of all, the kitchen renovations have transformed the space: cabinets, countertops, as well as the sink, dishwasher, and stove have all been replaced! On October 28, more than 30 volunteers from the Canadian Real Estate Association installed these new fixtures (and made a generous donation), finally allowing families to cook together, organize collective kitchens, and share moments over nourishing meals. A real plus for neighborhood life!
A heartfelt thank you to our partners — the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Community Housing (OCH), the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) — and to everyone who has supported this project.
Our vision remains the same: to make the Community House a true hub of solidarity, where every resident can find support, break out of isolation, and develop their skills. A space that promotes social inclusion, collective well-being, and access to safe spaces. We warmly thank our residents for their patience and support. The reopening is coming very soon — stay tuned!
