The Lowertown Echo is made possible by the hard work of our dedicated volunteers. We are always looking for individuals in the community to support.

Current Opportunities

Distribution manager – Do you enjoy making charts and organizing things? Well, this could be the opportunity for you! You would coordinate the distribution of the paper by our dedicated volunteers, and ensure that stocks are replenished at key drop-off points such as the Rideau Street branch of the Ottawa Public Library. Time commitment – roughly 10 hours five times per year.

Advertising manager – Do you enjoy wandering around our neighbourhood and chatting with local business owners? If so, you could well be the ideal candidate to sell ad space in our paper. We’ll provide you with rate cards, placement agreements, and extra copies of The Echo. You’ll need some comfortable walking shoes and a love of talking. Without ad sales, we won’t have a paper. Time commitment: flexible but likely 3-4 hours per issue, which comes out five times per year.

Digital marketing and website support – Are you are creative, tech savvy individual? Do you have experience or looking to gain experience working with websites, social media, and graphic design? We are seeking support with updating the website each issue with new articles, creating social media graphics, and keeping our social media channels active. Time commitment: 4-8 hours per month.
