A new look, some new faces, and the same promise

We’re excited to introduce you to the newly designed Echo, Lowertown’s community newspaper.

With a new production team on board, some new contributors, and a lot of important stories to share, we felt that it was time for a new look – one that echoes the original brand that so many in our community have come to recognize, look for, and enjoy.

A few things won’t change about the Echo – our commitment to pursuing stories that are vitally important to our community, our belief in the importance of diversity in voice, perspective, and topic, and our desire to celebrate our complex and unique community.

We welcome your ideas for new stories and your thoughts about those already published. If you want to get involved, please reach out – we need volunteers particularly to help with distributing the paper right after it is published. If there is a section of the paper that you feel needs to be developed – please let us know. At the moment, we are looking to expand our sections to include both LGBTQ+ and Indigenous life in Lowertown. Additional ideas are always welcome.

So, we hope that you enjoy this issue – the first to present our new brand logo and colours!

Avec nos remerciements et mes meilleurs vœux,

Kate Laing
